Last Friday’s Ballyhoo! show brought the party that Rockville Centre had been waiting for for a long time coming. With the summer heat at it’s peak, the show started off quietly with a few talented local bands. As the sun died down, the Vibe came alive. Punk/ska band, Hazmat Bay, woke the club up with some upbeat tunes that got the crowd skanking. During Hazmat’s set, the rising anticipation of Ballyhoo’s set became extremely evident. The door began to flood with fans ready to kick it with their favorite reggae/rock band.
Anyone who has ever listened to Ballyhoo’s music can tell you that the band is all about having fun with friends and drinking some beers. Well, that is exactly what happened. There was not a soul in the room without a drink in hand ready to be raised to cheer on the Maryland based band. Right from the very first note, the party atmosphere dominated the room. Lead Singer and guitar player Howi introduced the band with, “Hi, we’re Ballyhoo! and we like to have a good time!” And that they did.
