This was a looooong weekend for Loaded Rock Shows.
We started the party early on Thursday when Brokencyde, Jeffree Star and friends rolled through to play a packed out show featuring an insane amount of laptops and blinking lights.
Friday started the second annual Super-Awesome Cover Wars at the Vibe Lounge. With sets by some of LI’s new locals covering Weezer, New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional,The Ataris and The Juliana Theory, people were singing along throughout the show. International superstars Powerdrive came through for their second headlining Vibe date.
Saturday at the Crazy Donkey was a Calling Out Productions Local Showcase. It was a hot day out but that didn’t stop people from coming out to see their friends play on the stage. The show featured a lot of newer bands to the scene that will be coming back to the Loaded stages soon. Although it wasn’t a cover wars show, there were several covers played: songs by the Who, Blink 182, Bowling for Soup and even 3 Doors Down.
Sunday was the last of the Super-Awesome Cover Wars at Karma in Patchogue. A tornado watch and “not-so-nice” weather might have kept some people from heading on down. However, it never rained so it was their loss. Bands probably picked the best cover ideas - Sweet Hollow Drive might have taken the cake as HelloGoodbye and The Endless Assembly’s rendition of Limp Bizkit wasn’t too far off. For the Win were down two members but brought a friend on to help sing Weezer songs. And Made After Midnight was put together by a group of people singing Paramore songs - and pretty accurately at that.
Overall it was a fun weekend for us - because we love to sing along to cover songs. Be sure to check out the bands that played on some upcoming shows at clubloaded.com
See ya at the show.
