Now that the holiday season is behind us, its time to look back and see how Christmosh 2010 was.
Christmosh was a term that was coined only a few years prior. Though originally it was only a one or two day thing we had decided to make shows for everyone and reach out to a wide variety of audiences.
Our first date was held at Club Karma in Patchogue - with Hit the Lights and Such Gold. The weekend started as a pop-punk fest, with The Wonder Years tour being moved to the venue on short notice only a day prior (an early xmas present, if you will).
It was cold, but inside people got rowdy and really enjoyed all the bands playing. There were circle pits and singalongs throughout the night.
The next night at the Crazy Donkey was a total different vibe. Local friends Stereo Skyline and Cash Cash came through to celebrate the holidays with their fans. Its a surprise if any of the girls left that room with vocal chords - screams and picture taking was a sum up of the entire night.
The following week started off as a mess because of a terrible snow storm that came through the area, postponing both the Patent Pending and Life as a Ghost.
However, we were able to reschedule that week.
Patent Pending came with a lot of family members (Mania in Urbania & This Good Robot & You Again). Other friends joined on the show, including Love, Robot, Kids of Survival and Giants at Large. All in all it was a fun rock show - the reschedule didn’t stop anyone from coming out and having a good time. The venue, though, must have taken a hit from the storm because there were about 3 power outages during Patent Pending’s headlining set. The show must go on - and they did. Jumping all around, disappearing bass players and X-mas PJs were some of the highlights of the set.
Life as a Ghost certainly brought the mosh to the Vibe Lounge - the hardcore lineup featured circle pits all over. The whole show was full of friends which helped. Although Kills and Thrills couldn’t make the new date - all of the bands had a great time. For those that didn’t see the heavy bands when we first announced - this was the show for you. If you missed it, expect a lot of heavier shows this new year. Your welcome.
The final Christmosh show was This Condition - also postponed but to January 9th (so it technically wasn’t 2010 anymore, but whos counting?!) The local heroes brought their friends along: The Sliders, Justin Morrell & One Love to open the night. It was a completely free gig that sold out a month or two in advance. Though some people probably were deterred with the new date - it was a special night for all those who attended. The band played a stripped down acoustic set of songs from their most recent EP - back to their first songs written back a couple years ago.
All in all, the festival was a success. Kids loved it. We loved it. The bands loved it. Now the real question…

Two weeks ago The Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre bar was doing some serious rocking. OK what I just said was lame but the first SINK OR SWIM FRIDAY was anything but! We had an open bar with beer AND liquor for 3 hours, plus insane drink specials with funny names (ahem, who ordered the Salma Kayak?). Royal City Riot kept us dancing all night with sweet cover songs and DJ Easeback and Stevie C spun sick songs all night in between sets.
If you missed out, you’re in luck! We have another THIS Friday! We have bigger cups, Eric and the Sliders http://www.myspace.com/thesliders and The Power P. As always, 18+ to enter, 21+ to partayyy.
Hope to see you again, this is an awesome new reoccurring bar night you’ll definitely want to be a part of! So, will you SINK, or SWIM?!
Your Lovely Bartender,
Em Skip

Friday July 9th night marked Club Loaded’s first ever Sink Or Swim Fridays at The Vibe Lounge. It was a fun night all around. There was everything from a great live performance from reggae/rock band Royal City Riot, to cheap drinks, and good people. Personally, I’ve been getting tired of going to the bars around Long Island and not being able to hear music that didn’t only consist of only rap/hip hop/R&B playlists. With Sink Or Swim Fridays, I think I’ve finally found a spot that I can go to drink and listen to some good rock music that I enjoy. It was also a great experience for me because I was able to reconnect with some friends I haven’t seen in years, as well as make some new ones. Not only was the music a factor, but Sink Or Swim hosted the best priced open bar I have ever been to at only $15. Now that’s a real bang for your buck! So keep a look out for the next Sink Or Swim Friday from Club Loaded for some more great live music, awesome people, one of the lowest priced open bars you’ll ever go to, and yes, even catch some bros, icing bros. The next Sink or Swim will be THIS Friday July 30th @ The Vibe Lounge feat.Eric & The Sliders

Last Friday’s Ballyhoo! show brought the party that Rockville Centre had been waiting for for a long time coming. With the summer heat at it’s peak, the show started off quietly with a few talented local bands. As the sun died down, the Vibe came alive. Punk/ska band, Hazmat Bay, woke the club up with some upbeat tunes that got the crowd skanking. During Hazmat’s set, the rising anticipation of Ballyhoo’s set became extremely evident. The door began to flood with fans ready to kick it with their favorite reggae/rock band.
Anyone who has ever listened to Ballyhoo’s music can tell you that the band is all about having fun with friends and drinking some beers. Well, that is exactly what happened. There was not a soul in the room without a drink in hand ready to be raised to cheer on the Maryland based band. Right from the very first note, the party atmosphere dominated the room. Lead Singer and guitar player Howi introduced the band with, “Hi, we’re Ballyhoo! and we like to have a good time!” And that they did.

Cash Cash rocked the Vibe Lounge Sunday night with their unique brand of dance rock. Their high-energy performance had the crowd going all night, who eventually demanded an encore performance from the band. The show would not have been complete without the stand out local artists who opened up the show. Eric And The Sliders showed the crowd their musicality throughout their entire set. Despite a technical difficulty, the band showed full recovery by deviating from their original set list and closing with their song City Lights (Abbey Road), which ended the set with instrumental solos from each member of the band. Here’s To You also got the crowd going and had them going crazy with their cover of Iyaz’s “Replay”. Time And Place and Through The Walls also put on great performances, showing The Vibe Lounge what Long Island Music is really about. Get ready for some more great shows coming up, including shows at The Vibe Lounge with bands such as This Condition (6/18), The Fold with Jonas Sees In Color (6/20), and The Supervillains (6/25). And don’t forget about the great shows coming up at The Crazy Donkey including GWAR (6/22) and CKY (6/24). GWAR is known for its elaborate sci-fi/horror film inspired costumes, raunchy obscene lyrics, and graphic stage performances. They will be performing the full stage show so get ready for Long Island to be drenched in blood!

This was a looooong weekend for Loaded Rock Shows.
We started the party early on Thursday when Brokencyde, Jeffree Star and friends rolled through to play a packed out show featuring an insane amount of laptops and blinking lights.
Friday started the second annual Super-Awesome Cover Wars at the Vibe Lounge. With sets by some of LI’s new locals covering Weezer, New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional,The Ataris and The Juliana Theory, people were singing along throughout the show. International superstars Powerdrive came through for their second headlining Vibe date.
Saturday at the Crazy Donkey was a Calling Out Productions Local Showcase. It was a hot day out but that didn’t stop people from coming out to see their friends play on the stage. The show featured a lot of newer bands to the scene that will be coming back to the Loaded stages soon. Although it wasn’t a cover wars show, there were several covers played: songs by the Who, Blink 182, Bowling for Soup and even 3 Doors Down.
Sunday was the last of the Super-Awesome Cover Wars at Karma in Patchogue. A tornado watch and “not-so-nice” weather might have kept some people from heading on down. However, it never rained so it was their loss. Bands probably picked the best cover ideas - Sweet Hollow Drive might have taken the cake as HelloGoodbye and The Endless Assembly’s rendition of Limp Bizkit wasn’t too far off. For the Win were down two members but brought a friend on to help sing Weezer songs. And Made After Midnight was put together by a group of people singing Paramore songs - and pretty accurately at that.
Overall it was a fun weekend for us - because we love to sing along to cover songs. Be sure to check out the bands that played on some upcoming shows at clubloaded.com
See ya at the show.
